We aim to stimulate the children’s interest, enthusiasm and understanding of modern foreign languages to promote positive attitudes to using languages throughout life and develop intercultural understanding. The school currently teaches French.
All learners will be given equal opportunities to access French. They will be supported or challenged through differentiation. Planning will reflect the varying needs of all children in the class. Where possible, the diverse society in which we live will be reflected in the teaching and learning of this subject and aspects of French culture will be discretely taught.
In KS2, the teaching of French will follow the KAPOW French scheme of work which covers objectives in oracy, literacy and intercultural understanding. Year 6 are taught by an MFL teacher from Co Op Academy Walkden allowing them to access similar teaching to that in KS3.
