Family sessions webinars
Please see the below universal relationship sessions taking place over the next few weeks.
For full schedule please see: Being a parent•Salford City Council
Triple P Discussion Group: Hassle-free mealtimes with children (0-12) – 2.12.24 12-2pm at Swinton Family Hub.
This discussion topic explores things that influence children’s mealtime behaviour, setting limits and teaching children good mealtime habits. Parents will look at ways to increase food variety, be introduced to some positive parenting strategies to help manage mealtimes and develop a personal plan for their family’s mealtimes.
Triple P seminar: Changing problem behaviour into positive behaviour – SEND (0-12) 4.12.24 1-2:30pm on-line.
Parents are introduced to the six key steps of how to help children learn alternative behaviour:
Triple P Discussion Group: Dealing with disobedience (0-12) – 6.12.24 12-2pm at Swinton Family Hub.
This discussion topic provides examples of common forms of challenging behaviour and some reasons why children have difficulty learning to follow instructions. A number of positive parenting strategies are then introduced to help parents develop a personal plan to prevent challenging behaviour, teach their child limits, and also to manage challenging behaviour when necessary.
Triple P seminar: Helping your child reach their potential – SEND (0-12) 9.12.24 10-11:30am on-line.
Practitioners show parents how they can use positive parenting principles to promote their child’s development by teaching them new skills and behaviours:
Triple P Discussion Group: Getting teenagers to co-operate – 9.12.24 12-2pm at Swinton Family Hub.
During this discussion, parents share some of their experiences and ideas about dealing with non-cooperation and discuss reasons why teenagers can be uncooperative. Several positive parenting strategies are introduced to help parents develop a plan to motivate their teenager to be cooperative at home.
Triple P Discussion Group: Building teenagers’ survival skills – 12.12.24 10am-12pm at Winton Family Hub.
This discussion topic explores why teenagers sometimes make risky decisions and how they can learn to keep themselves safe while gradually developing independence. Parents are introduced to positive parenting strategies to help their teen plan for situations which may potentially put their health or wellbeing at risk.
Triple P Discussion Group: Reducing family conflict (teen) – 13.12.24 12-2pm at Swinton Family Hub.
Parents share some of their experiences of conflict with their teenager and discuss why sometimes this occurs. Positive parenting strategies are introduced to help parents teach their teens how to get along with other family members and resolve problems. Ways to manage times when conflict affects the whole family are also discussed.

Hi all,
There will be a neurodevelopmental in-person drop-in on Wednesday 10th January, 10am-2pm, at Swinton Gateway (https://www.salford.gov.uk/.../gateway.../swinton-gateway/)
Swinton Gateway
100 Chorley Road Swinton M27 6BP
This is an open session, first come first served. You cannot book a slot. Please note due to the busy nature of the surgeries slots are a maximum of 30 minutes long.
These are specifically for parents and carers who have queries relating to a child or young person's possible or actual neurodiversity (for example, autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, Tourette’s, etc).
You should access these sessions if your child is:
· waiting to be referred to the neurodevelopmental pathway
· is on the neurodevelopmental pathway under assessment
· has been turned down for a neurodevelopmental pathway assessment
· has a recent diagnosis (less than 6 months ago)
· has a diagnosis and is experiencing difficulties that relate specifically to their neurodiversity
· you feel your child may have neurodiversity and are unsure of next steps
All virtual slots are taken for this week, but there is a further SIASS in-person drop-in on Friday 12th January, 10am-2pm, at Swinton Gateway again. This is for all SEND related issues that are NOT to do with neurodiversity.
Healthy Start Scheme
If you’re more than 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4, the Healthy Start scheme can help you:
