At Mesne Lea Primary School, our Faith Council plays an important role in our School. The council consists of children from Years 2-6 and we meet every half term when we will discuss our activities and plan for future projects. We believe in having a powerful pupils' voice and strongly encourage the children to think of their own ideas on how to promote our school values and vision.

Part of their role includes:

  • Promoting our core school values of kindness, honesty, respect, resilience and determination by being role models.
  • Having the opportunity to work thoughtfully and fairly as a group with children from across key stages to develop their own vision of religious and world views.
  • Having an input into religious experiences and being involved in and promoting whole school initiatives.

To date, the children have generated a number of ideas and initiatives they would like the school community to take part in over the course of the year.

Firstly, with our core value of kindness in mind, we will be asking all of our teachers to nominate a child from their class to receive a ‘Caught in the Act of Kindness’ certificate in our weekly assemblies.

We will also be setting an Easter Card competition for the children to enter with the winning design being printed with a message and delivered to elderly residents who reside in local care homes. Both of these initiatives were thought of by our Faith Council Leaders who are very eager to work with and have an impact on the wider community outside of school.
